Minimum Requirements:

Successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental related engineering field with MO or KS Professional Engineers License.

A minimum of 10 years extensive and diverse experience in wastewater treatment, conveyance/piping systems for water/wastewater/stormwater design projects is required. Experience working with municipalities and performing water/wastewater/stormwater design; familiarity with Kansas and Missouri water/wastewater/stormwater design criteria and the Kansas City, MO combined sewer overflow (CSO) program is preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. CAD, Microstation, HEC-RAS, XPSWMM familiarity a plus.

Job Description:

In this position, successful candidate will be in the Transportation and Water Department (T&W)working in the Overland Park, KS office and reporting to management staff in the Overland Park, KS office, addressing technical issues and accountable for assisting with the delivery of designs to high technical standards. Successful candidate will assist in building teamwork and staff to work on the most challenging and complex infrastructure projects in the country.

Initially employee will become acquainted with company and local water/wastewater/stormwater resources while also working on complex design projects. Employee will be responsible for assisting with business development primarily for the water/wastewater/stormwater market in the Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska areas and surrounding areas, participating in professional organizations, as well as technical designs of water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure projects. Job tasks will include, but are not limited to, effectively managing specific project tasks under direction; meeting designated budgets and schedules; being cognizant of need to consistently maintain sold time goals; working with staff in multiple offices, both in T&W Department, local office, and in other offices; effectively working on tasks with some delegating as required; assisting with generating new work in the department/office; working on marketing and business development; assisting with client presentations; mentoring entry-level staff with the unique opportunity of helping to expand the water/wastewater/stormwater design group.

Candidate will utilize and be expected to expand upon existing engineering design, business development and management skills within a company that provides opportunities on some of the most complicated and interesting projects in the world.

Studies and design projects related to wastewater collection and treatment, potable water treatment and conveyance, stormwater collection and treatment, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, sustainable/green design projects, traditional design/bid/build projects, design/build projects, and public/private partnership opportunities for municipalities.

Successful candidate must be an effective communicator (written and verbal) who can converse easily with clients on technical issues as well as with the general public in explaining engineering issues at a level easily understood by the general public. Successful candidate must have a dynamic personality that conveys a sense of enthusiasm and passion with a successful portfolio of previous work.
