Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
CPA required.
Minimum 7 years plus of experience at a Big 4 CPA firm with publicly traded clients and equivalent industry experience in a technical accounting role (i.e. financial reporting, accounting policy). Position also requires experience in analyzing and addressing technical accounting issues, mergers & acquisitions and dispositions. Familiar with Engineering and Construction or Professional Services industry.
• Extensive understanding of U.S. GAAP • Ability to thoroughly research technical accounting issues in a fast-paced environment • Communicates effectively with peers and upper management ; Ability to lead and serve as a technical resource in a team environment • Organizes and presents information effectively • Excellent written communication skills and report writing skills required Job Description: • Research emerging issues related to U.S. GAAP, including but not limited to, FASB, SEC, and IFRS convergence. Assess the impact on current accounting policies and practices. Conclude on the impact and recommend appropriate accounting treatment, if applicable. • Work closely with other financial staff (Director, Finance and Accounting Policy Development, regional controllers, business systems, etc) to determine the need for system/process and accounting practice changes as a result of new accounting pronouncements. • Coordinate with the Director, Finance and Accounting Policy Development, on the development and issuance of new/revised technical accounting policy and directives. • Provide decision support on business transactions by identifying and addressing accounting and reporting issues. Work closely with the Director, Management Reporting and Acquisitions to ensure the appropriate application of various accounting rules immediately following the business transaction closing and during the integration phase. • Develop periodic communications to financial staff on recently issued accounting standards as well as emerging technical issues. • Participate, as needed, in the implementation of new accounting guidance. • Assist with special projects and key strategic initiatives. • Establish and maintain relationships with finance partners and other internal stakeholder groups.
