Minimum Requirements: BS degree in Civil Engineering.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years professional experience. The successful candidate will have experience in the design to USACE criteria and have had designed USACE projects within the last 3 years.
The successful candidate will have his/her license as a professional engineer in the State of Texas.
The successful candidate will have familiarity with geotechnical software programs, ability to work with Bentley Micro-Station CADD, ability to design soil and rock subsurface investigation programs, ability to assess a site for geotechnical impacts to a specific project, write comprehensive scopes of work for geotechnical investigations, develop subsurface soil profiles for design and contract drawings, perform bearing capacity, settlement, heave, seepage, slope stability analyses and seismic assessments, ability to design stable slopes, building foundations, seepage cutoff walls, drain systems and pavements and experience in the inspection and evaluation of levees and dams and the development of assessment reports.
The successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. The candidate will have experience with SLOPW/W, SEEP/W, UTEXAS4, gINT, ArcGIS and PCASE applications
The successful candidate will write clear, concise and grammatically correct design support documentation, foundation and pavement design analyses and trip reports utilizing USACE formats.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal guidance performing duties while applying a thorough knowledge of established procedures and engineering principles and practices. The candidate will be able to perform work within assigned schedules, budget and without sacrifice of quality. Job Description: This position will provide support for geotechnical risk assessment activities for multiple projects by defining problems, reviewing the data, completing the risk assessment calculations, interpreting the results and clearly communicating the findings.
The position will represent geotechnical engineering in coordination meetings and will review the work of less experienced structural concrete designers, confirm adherence to design schedules, review contractor submittals, review contractor substitution requests, assist in estimate development, respond to client or contractor RFI's, review lab test results, draft geotechnical testing specifications and draft trip reports.
The position will report to the project manager and design engineering manager as dictated by specific project requirements.
The position will work in multidiscipline teams and will coordinate with the section supervisor, senior engineers and project managers as appropriate. The candidate will attend meetings scheduled as needed and upon request by representatives from the Engineering & Construction, Engineering Services Branch Office, Geotechnical Section, or the Contractor.
