Sr. Environmental Scientist Job Details

BS in biology, ecology, wildlife/fisheries science, environmental science, or related field and a minimum of 5 years job experience. Successful candidate should have a positive attitude and ability to work independently or with a team. Wetland identification/delineation skills, aquatic resource survey experience, wildlife/fisheries survey experience, permit preparation experience, and strong technical writing skills. Use of and training in the USACOE 1987 Manual and Regional Supplements, ability to use a GPS unit for resource surveying, State and Federal Wetland/Stream permitting, ability to delineate wetlands and proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word. Pennsylvania certified bat identifier (BI) or qualified Indiana bat surveyor (QIBS), ability to use GIS for resource mappling and familiarity with NEPA process.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of environmental professionals that conducts a wide range of ecological investigations based from the URS Williamsport, PA office. Specific job duties include assisting in projects that involve wetland/watercourse identification/delineations, wildlife surveys, benthic and fisheries investigations, and environmental permitting. The candidate will play an active role in field sampling/surveying activities on a variety of projects. The candidate will also be responsible for providing technical support in project data analysis, and report preparation with senior staff supervision. The candidate will interact with internal URS supervisor/staff, clients, and their subcontractors. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
