ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Stakeholder Relations Coordinator is responsible for engaging, coordinating, and communicating with stakeholders for a major project of the Nature Conservancy. The Project will conduct a landscape-level analysis to help inform conservation, development, and mitigation strategies for the South Gobi, supporting a sustainable future for the region. The Stakeholder Relations Coordinator conducts stakeholder mapping and analysis, outreach and engagement, and regular consultation and communications.

The Stakeholder Relations Coordinator is responsible for supporting a the Project’s communications strategy and managing media requests for the Project, in collaboration with TNC Strategic Communications staff. He/She develops, maintains, and distributes Project background information, fact sheets and related media files. The Stakeholder Relations Coordinator reports to the Project Lead (TNC Conservation Director). He/She brings a sensitivity and collaborative spirit to the job, as well as sufficient knowledge and experience to carry out the following functions:

• Conducts stakeholder mapping exercises and stakeholder consultation for the Project.
• Conducts outreach; Listens, engages, and communicates with all stakeholders on a regular basis, providing and discussing project updates and other project-related developments.
• Leads in organizing meetings, conferences, and other Project-related activities; responsible for logistics, invitations, and meeting reports to stakeholders.
• Supports Project team in carrying out activities as needed, including translation, organizational support, and administrative tasks.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree and 1 year experience in government relations, public policy, or related; or equivalent combination.
• Experience in stakeholder relations and general program support such as event planning, meeting preparation, or related activities.
• Experience coordinating multiple tasks.
• Experience writing and editing general correspondence.
• Experience using MS Office, Word, Excel and navigating the Internet.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 1 year experience in government relations, public policy, or related; or equivalent combination.
• Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities. Meet deadlines.
• Communicating clearly via written and spoken English and Mongolian languages.
• Proven interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated experience in MS office, word, and excel.
• Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.

COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
• Coordinate multiple tasks with several variables, set and meet deadlines, and manage a timeline.
• Resolve minor problems independently; consult with supervisor to develop plans for resolution of unusual or complex problems.

DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING:
• Perform duties under general supervision and established guidelines.
• Prioritize work independently, working with supervisor as needed.
• Make day to day decisions within the scope of work assignments.
• Consult with supervisor to address any issues that affect the work of others or the program as a whole.

RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL AND SUPERVISORY:
• Supervises no staff but may help plan and direct the work of administrative staff.
• Limited financial responsibility which may include meeting and travel expense reports.
• May purchase equipment and supplies as provided for in budget and in consultation with supervisor.
• May assist with some aspects of budget preparation, such as those for meetings and events.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
• Consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion.
• Work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
• Function productively as a member of a work team.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or strain. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
