The Role

As part of the Finance team, based in Amsterdam, the Accounting / Payroll Specialist will be processing end-to-end payroll for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other EMEA countries when needed. It involves coordinating data to various EMEA payroll providers and working to a tight timetable ensuring that the payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner, this includes checking and reconciling the payroll registers and associated tax payments. You will also work on the year-end regulatory processes for the payrolls.

In this role you will be part of wider global Payroll Accounting team and report to the Senior Payroll Accounting Manager EMEA.
Responsibilities
  • Processing of various EMEA payroll data in accordance with prescribed timetables, via external service providers.
  • Ensuring accuracy of payroll input, output and review with your team members.
  • Reconciliation of payrolls and preparation of payroll journals for posting.
  • Working closely with our HR department and other stakeholders, to ensure compliance with local legislation and SOX controls.
  • Engage with the business.
  • Identifying and executing payroll process improvements.
  • Documenting and maintaining the payroll procedures manual.
  • Supporting Finance with all reporting processes.

Requirements
  • Experienced in processing payrolls for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
  • Background in accounting
  • Attention to detail, with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate relevant information to all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English as the primary language. Any other language would be of an advantage.
  • Able to cope with working in a fast-paced international environment.
  • A self-starter who used to work both as a team player and independently.
  • Relevant education in Finance or Payroll Administration. In lieu of a degree, the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
