Job Description:  AECOM is actively seeking a Finance Manager for immediate employment at a client site in the LA Metro area. The Financial Manager manages Program plans and directs all functions of Program accounting, financial planning, control, reporting, and operation of fiscal systems. This includes compliance with government accounting standards, bonds, California law, and contracts. This position oversees fiscal procedures and risk management to efficiently facilitate management decisions and operations. This role will be a key member of the leadership team responsible for influencing strategy, creating effective and efficient processes, overseeing execution against performance goals, and developing talent across the Program.

  • Overall accountability for the accounting and FP&A functions for the Program
  • Manage monthly and yearly accounting close process
  • Manage and guide the overall forecast, budget, and expense planning process, providing leadership and ensuring ownership of budget and results
  • Ensure the effectiveness and integrity of the Program's systems of internal control
  • Manage and provide leadership to the broader finance team and direct reports (accountants and analysts) responsible for financial reporting, accounting, and planning & analysis
  • Assess priorities, assign and direct work, and ensure there is accuracy and integrity behind work performed and information disseminated
  • Coach, mentor, and assess the finance team
  • Translate financial data into value added business information enabling leadership to better manage risks, costs, gaps, and identify opportunities
  • Manage all cost center expenses and help business partners make better informed spending decisions
  • Support key presentations of financial and business results to senior management
  • Actively look for and drive the implementation of solutions and improvements to financial and organizational processes

Functional Department Manager for Accounting Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting/Finance
  • 10+ years of financial experience, 5 of which should be in a management capacity
  • C.P.A. or C.F.A.
  • Financial planning and analysis experience, including direct financial modeling experience and experience evaluating quantitative impact of new initiatives
  • Requires a high level of technical proficiency as well as creative thinking and analytical background in both financial and operational data
  • Experience managing bond funded capital program
  • Proven record of profit management and business administration
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, and other financial principles
  • Advanced financial analysis, modeling and forecasting skills
  • Experience with Balanced Scorecard, dashboards and metrics
  • Experience operating/managing SAP computer-based accounting database
  • Exceptional skills in Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, database applications, skills and various internal business applications and reporting systems experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required as this role will include interaction with clients and the general public
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style and commitment to get the job done
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, effectively delegate responsibilities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
