An immediate opportunity exists, within our Mining and Metals business unit to be part of the exciting Rio Tinto Amrun Bauxite project, in far north Queensland.

The Amrun Project will include key facilities such as: process plant, product stockpile and wharf facility.Significant infrastructure development will be required, including a sealed access road, ferry and barge terminals, water storage dam, tailings storage, power station, construction camp and other mine site infrastructure.

The Home Office team will be based in the Brisbane CBD, supported by the New Delhi Execution Unit. The Field Office team will be located at the job site with camp accommodation provided and a FIFO work roster.

The Electrical Pre-Commissioning Engineer is responsible for coordinating all phases of electrical system testing with other disciplines and work groups to ensure safe energisation and appropriate testing of assigned systems. Responsible also for supervising and coordinating manual labour, works contractors and vendor personnel to complete testing activities.

  1. Plans, develops, schedules, conducts and coordinates the pre-commissioning and commissioning work for assigned systems within the project.
  2. Reviews of designs for plant operability, safety and jobsite pre-commissioning and commissioning system testing activities.
  3. Review standards, specifications, scopes, vendor drawings, ITP's, installation, construction verification and pre-commissioning and commissioning documents.
  4. Plans, guides or prepares project administrative and technical documents including ITP's as required for pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing.
  5. Factory Acceptance (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of equipment for the project.
  6. Manage labour and equipment vendors on site including forecasts and expenditure.
  7. Contribute to the overall testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning strategy and plans.
  8. Coordinate with other disciplines(mechanical, electrical, control systems, instrumentation and vendors) for testing activities.
  9. Coordinates with LOTO team, manages work authorisation and access for system energisation and testing.
  10. Carry out isolations of plant and equipment.
  11. Perform safety risk assessments for pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  12. Development and delivery of training material, procedures and manuals as required by the project.
  13. Completions documentation.

  1. Experience in the mining industry and bulk materials handling as described above under 'Project Overview'.
  2. Minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  3. Pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing experience within an EPCM environment.
  4. Technical knowledge of pre-commissioning, commissioning, operation and testing.
  5. Thorough knowledge of Australian Standards for electrical work, the Qld Electrical Safety Act & Regulations, the Qld Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act and Regulations and best practice industrial standards.
  6. Experience in construction verification, writing pre-commissioning plans and ITP's.
  7. Experience with HV Switchgear, MCCs, VSDs, electrical equipment, controls systems, instrumentation, building services including HVAC, light and power and fire systems installation and commissioning practices.
  8. Experience in HV distribution, process water systems and bulk material process and handling equipment.
  9. Experience with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), Setroute, Teamworks and Completions Module or similar applications.
  10. Ability to work with engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, contracts, supplier quality and vendors to coordinate and perform work scopes, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  11. Ability to communicate well with the client, all departments, vendors and contractors on the project.
