The Bechtel Petrofac Joint Venture has been selected to provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management services to deliver a 2 M tons per year Alumina Refinery in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Industrial Zone.
Assigned to the field construction organisation in a supervisory role. Responsible for supervising and directing all operations within the following disciplines Electrical and Instrumentation. Supervises and directs Contractor activities, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

  • Provide technical and administrative direction to subordinate superintendents, field staff and others, as assigned.
  • Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline and/or area.
  • Determine workforce requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by craft. Monitor work activities and ensures the quality of work accomplished.
  • Ensure the most current design documentation is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Approve direct report time records using established automated tools.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate / Project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines, areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Perform employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
  • Ensure Bechtel and local safety codes, requirements and standards are being compiled within their assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations.
  • Implement Six Sigma tools, analysis and decision making in the execution of duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (including qualifications):
  • Electrical Engineering degree and at least 10 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience managing EPCM contracts.
  • A strong understanding of Bechtel's procedures and management tools.
  • Previous experience working in the UAE region is desirable.
