Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university or college and four years of related engineering experience. • Master's degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for 1 year of experience. • Florida PE License; or ability to obtain through reciprocity. • Excellent communication skills including technical writing, verbal, listening and interpersonal. • Computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, data management applications, and remedial cost estimating programs. • The ability to work in a team environment, using personal time management and multi-tasking skills. • Must be able to strictly follow and adhere to Health and Safety protocols. • Requires the ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs. • Requires a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions. • Requires completing training for Hazwoper OSHA 40 hour certification and enrollment in the medical monitoring program with initial and annual physicals, and initial and random drug screens. • Requires a valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to travel and drive regularly, often long distances. Job Description: The Environmental Group of the URS Tallahassee office has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Remediation Engineer to become part of a multi-disciplined team providing consulting engineering services in the area of Environmental Remediation Engineering. Typical activities will include:
• Designing, planning, and performing engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental health hazards utilizing various engineering techniques. Work may include site remediation, waste treatment, pollution control technology and operations and maintenance of remediation systems including troubleshooting. • Field investigations, environmental sampling and data collection with proper field documentation. • Identifying alternative solutions and investigating advantages and disadvantages of each solution. • Technical analysis and design including application of specialized modeling software, spreadsheets, and databases. • Participating in periodic site visits to facilities and interfacing with client representatives. • Assisting with project management and coordination including attending project meetings. Full project management responsibilities would require completion of URS Project Management Certification Program and demonstrating the ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality. • Prepares, reviews, and updates environmental investigation and recommendation reports. • Provides technical-level support for environmental remediation projects, including remediation system design and determination of regulatory applicability.
