Job Description:

Minimum Requirements:

B.S. or B.A. degree (minimum) required in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Biogeography or related fields with an emphasis on California Ecosystems. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communications, and ability to perform and direct biological fieldwork. Ability to perform strenuous field tasks is required.

Experience: 2 years experience with any or all of the following technical skills:
• Conducting and/or coordinating state and federal threatened & endangered species studies for plants, including habitat assessments and/or protocol surveys;
• Conducting and/or coordinating vegetation mapping;
• Conducting and coordinating wetlands identification or delineation studies and preparing associated reports for clients, such as wetland delineation reports, Clean Water Act permit applications, and mitigation plans;
• Environmental impact assessment for biological resources;
• Project experience with permitting for infrastructure projects such as linear power facilities, pipelines, water infrastructure, or transportation.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• General knowledge of biological principles.
• Knowledge of California flora and/or experience identifying plant species.
• Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.
• Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
• Awareness of behavior based safety culture and acts accordingly
• Exposure to biologic field data collection methods.
• Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.
• Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.

Our Oakland offices features a large, vibrant biology practice including wildlife biologists, plant ecologists, wetland scientists, restoration ecologists, aquatic ecologists and fisheries biologists. Biological work in the Oakland office includes a variety of large and small projects throughout California that include baseline environmental studies, restoration plans, impact evaluations, and project permitting. Our clients include state, federal, and local agencies as well as large private companies.

The Oakland office needs staff and mid-level Biologists who will perform a mix of field and office based work. Work may include conducting field surveys for natural resources, report writing, task management of survey and permitting efforts, and support of proposals for environmental projects.
