Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology.
Minimum six years experience in environmental consulting, including familiarity with the Illinois soil and groundwater regulations, Illinois TACO, and general environmental investigation and remediation methodologies.
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and some familiarity with AutoCAD and Access.
Must have 40-hour Hazwoper and current 8-hour refresher training documentation.
Position also requires having a valid driver's license and a means of transportation to field assignments.
Candidate must have excellent written and oral communications skills and be able to contribute to written and oral proposals, reports, and presentations.
Working knowledge of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act program and familiarity with Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act required.
Candidate must have experience with collaboration with technical staff ensuring that work is performed on schedule and on budget.
Candidate must be familiar with laboratory analyses and waste characterization criteria, human health screening criteria, and interpretation of chemical data for surface water, soil, soil gas and groundwater. Candidate must be familiar with field instrumentation and equipment and have knowledge of construction and environmental field procedures.
Must perform and direct all work in a safe manner.
Must have experience and awareness of maintaining sold time goals for self as directed by supervisor. Job Description: Responsibilities include performing and/or coordinating field assignments (environmental data collection, engineering data collection, oversight of contractors), monitoring field project progress, regulatory research and analysis, data management, groundwater modeling and analysis, report/proposal development, and client and consulting team communications.
The successful candidate will apply and build upon skills in environmental engineering, science and geology, groundwater hydrogeology, computer skills, report and letter writing, meeting minutes, and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
Projects involved may include investigation and remediation, assisting in data gathering, system design and implementation, fate and transport modeling, and environmental risk assessment. This position consists of working on multiple, varied assignments with the opportunity to develop into an industry-recognized expert and/or management position with a premier international consulting firm, and involves working in a high energy environment with other engineers, scientists, GIS/CADD specialists, and support staff.
This position interfaces with over 250 engineering and environmental professionals in the Chicago Office that are on various project teams. The position will work on a team of over 30 members within the Environmental Key Accounts group consisting of over 60 team members including environmental engineers, environmental scientists, and geologists.
