Landscape Architect/Design Studio Leader  
Design Studio Leader with a track record of built work of notable design quality, with spatial and material characteristics that reflect contemporary ideas of innovation and incorporation of sustainability.

Responsible for:


  • Leadership of significant design projects, particularly urban projects in public realm as well as private development, and institutional projects such as college and university and health care campuses
  • Promoting a culture of innovative design through critiques, project design reviews, topical discussions, project tours and other activities that promote design awareness and dialogue.
  • Mentoring of design staff
  • Active role in business development, public relations, pursuit of awards and speaking opportunities
  • Managing projects for profitable performance
  • Project staffing and design staff allocation


Qualifications

Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in landscape architecture.   Multi-degree preferred.

New York State license to practice landscape architecture or equivalent with reciprocity

10 years minimum experience

Evidence of sustainability as a core design approach, with urban experience essential

Portfolio showing strong contemporary design work

Publication, professional and client group conference presentations, and community interaction

Demonstrated experience of strong project management and successful delivery of value and profitable work

Ability to work across disciplines

Good client references and repeat commissions

Flexibility and willingness to travel


Skills

Passionate and collaborative with excellent leadership skills

Critical knowledge of contemporary design nationally and internationally

Strong organizational skills

Collaboration and communication within and outside the studio

Innovation in thought and design practice

Ability to work with other professionals including planners, economists, architects and engineers

Experience with project management including financial systems, backlog projection and project scheduling
