Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Four year college degree (BA or BS) in architecture, engineering, construction, business, or other related field.
• Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project management or overseeing construction projects. Experience must include management of projects with a minimum construction value of $5 million.
• Skills / Abilities: Skilled with using industry standard program / project management software (Primavera Contract Manager and 6.0 or equivalent). Familiarity with California’s Division of State Architect rules, regulations, and requirements. A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation. Written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to perform construction cost estimating; develop building material and equipment specifications; evaluate construction methods; manage / lead others. Operate standard office equipment and software; establish and maintain effective working relationships; plan and organize work; meet schedules and timelines; maintain records and prepare reports; analyze situations accurately and act appropriately; work independently; read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee.


Job Description:

Manage planning and design processes for K-12 public school projects. Interface and coordinate construction activities with construction management staff. Manage preparation of construction related documents (plans, specifications, calculations, reports, documents, etc) completed by architects, consultants, manufacturers, and/or other district personnel. Interface and coordinate with school site and curriculum staff to obtain data for inclusion in drawings and specifications. Manage multiple consultants providing a variety of support services. Coordinate, facilitate and/or attend meetings involving community members, school site and other district staff, outside consultants, material and equipment manufacturers, and other agencies. Interface as required for proper communications with site administrators and staff, parents and community groups. Visit construction sites to observe work in progress, conduct status analysis, and monitor completion deadlines. Report construction related problems to district management. Review, evaluate, and approve change orders. Resolve problems related to construction projects. Review designs and working drawings for compliance with district standards, inclusion of appropriate specifications, and completeness. Prepare and/or oversee preparation of policies and procedures, district guides, and scoping documents. Prepare and/or review cost estimates; make sure budgets and actual costs are applied appropriately. Preform related duties as assigned.
